THE BLOCK: The future of urban living defined in Terrace week

When you think of apartment terraces, you imagine a table, a few chairs and maybe a plant or two, nothing could be further from the truth during The Block’s terrace week reveal. FullSizeRender

Editor of Liz Rudenko, takes a look at some of the highlights.

Paradise, oasis, tranquil delight – these are not the usual words to describe the terrace and outdoor space of an apartment.

Then again we are not talking about your ordinary apartments, when it comes to The Block the ordinary meets the extraordinary and the results are magical – this week was no different.

With urban living becoming the new norm, these terraces definitely proved that with a little imagination and great style any space can be made to feel like a tranquil garden.

And so the highlights…

When it comes to apartment terraces you can’t go wrong with a vertical garden, and the one in Kim and Chris’s apartment was an absolute standout this week.the-block-2016-kim-and-chris-terrace-balcony-4

In fact all of the greenery in this very luxurious terrace was on point.

There was a great deal of inspiration from this terrace for anyone trying to create a tropical feel in their apartment.

The choice of furniture created a real ‘Hamptons’ feel, it was light, fresh and contemporary, I particularly adored the bar looking out onto the city, which balances the urban living with the oasis feel.

It was all about the styling details in Julia and Sasha’s terrace this week. terrace

Everything from the choice of plants to the wall lighting showed the girl’s sense of style and luxury and tied in beautifully to their living space.

Upon closer look the small elements such as vases, lanterns and table settings do not necessarily appear expensive, which only further enhances the styling skills of this couple to create luxury even when the budget is tight.

A few simple vases with pops of colour from the flowers, tied in with the right lighting and plants is all it could take to recreate a look like this in any home.

Finally the positioning of their outdoor lounge is on completely on point, facing that million dollar view, it’s not hard to imagine coming home at the end of each and just relaxing in the beautifully styled terrace with it’s retreat vibe. The-Block-2016-will-and-karlie-terrace-outdoor-area-2

For anyone who every said it’s impossible to have a garden-like feel in an apartment – take point from Will and Karlie this week.

It’s almost hard to believe that this is apartment living – the lusciousness of all the greenery transport this terrace from city feels to a tropical paradise.

Everything from the installed grass to the plants and even choice of furniture makes this absolute perfection and very well throughout by the young couple.

Not only is this space peaceful but an unbelievable entertainers area – no doubt many barbecues and summer nights will hosted here.

Just when you thought it was all over….

It wouldn’t be The Block without a few twists and turns.

Whilst the contestants would of loved to have put their feel up – another apartment has been revealed to renovate.

With the title of the ‘smartest’ apartment we’ve ever seen, there’s no telling what the next reveal will bring.
