They say the road to success is paved with failures, and speaking from personal experience, I know that's very true.
Here are 5 lessons you'll have to learn before you can become successful.
You might have already learned some the hard way, but you still have the chance to learn the others without necessarily having to go through any unpleasant experiences.
1. If you’ve not failed, you can’t succeed:
For you to succeed, you must have previously failed.
Let me emphasize it so you can get the point; there is nobody who is successful today who has not previously failed.
One thing is that successful people know better than not to quit whenever they fail.
You can hardly succeed in anything you are doing for the first time, God will test you, nature will test you, and even life itself will test you.
So next time you sing that song that only your family members buy, know that it is a test.
That business that you have devoted your life and resources to and is not yielding profit maybe just a test.
Most successful people have acknowledged that they got their big break in life immediately after a heavy disappointment when they were thinking of quitting.
It doesn’t matter how much you fail, if you persist you will succeed. No one is born a failure.
2. Money is just a reward:
If you truly want to succeed by all standards, then money should not be your major motivation.
Don’t get me wrong, a lot of people have succeeded because they wanted to be rich but none of these people have succeeded without first adding value or solving a problem.
Money is the reward for value.
Only thieves want to reap where they’ve not sown.
Google is one of the richest organizations in the world today and I’m really not surprised.
Google alone has over 10 products that solve different areas of human problems.
Focus on creating value first, and the world will run to your doorstep for help.
3. To get what you want, you have to help others get what they want:
Life is give and take.
Just like in the example above, for Google to make a profit, they help you get direction, emails, fans and followers, traffic, and so on.
Zig Ziglar said you can get everything you want in life if you will just help enough other people get what they want.
One of the things that keep me going in life, writing more articles, speaking to individuals or groups is that desire to help somebody get what she wants.
If you can make helping others a lifestyle, you will be surprised how quickly you will discover your purpose and begin to achieve your dreams.
There is power and fulfillment in helping others.
4. People will always disappoint you:
People will always disappoint you and I mean always.
If you really want my best advice, I will say get used to it.
I can’t count how many times I’ve been disappointed.
Sometimes, I wonder why bad things always happen to good people.
It’s your attitude to disappointments that will determine how far you go in life especially in your relationship with clients, employees, colleagues, and so on.
No matter how much people disappoint you, you still have to trust people, and everyone deserves a first chance.
You also need to learn how to control and manage your relationship with people at all levels, this is key to your success in life.
I recommend that you read “How to Win Friend and Influence People by Dale Carnegie”.
5. The first step to success is clarity of purpose and direction:
You can succeed in whatever you are determined to succeed at but finding your purpose and walking in it makes everything easier.
This is so because you will be using your natural talent and abilities.
Find your purpose and chart the course you want to travel in life.
Doing this makes everything easier for you and I can assure you, your success is guaranteed.
