The Block 2018 | Bathroom week Reveal

They are back – and with a bang to say the least. Week 1 bathroom Bianca Carla 10

The Block’s 2018 undertaking is of epic proportions, with all eyes peeled on St Kilda’s infamous Gatwick Hotel.

But before we try to comprehend how this ‘colourful’ institution will be turned into a multi-million-dollar apartment building – let’s start with week 1, bathroom week.

While in theory, the necessities of a bathroom sound quite simple – bath, shower, toiler and a couple of vanities … the reality is very different.

Not only is there a great amount of trade work to consider, but to create an original style that would appeal to the area and buyer is no easy task

Styling highlights …

While they came second on the leader-board – I loved Bianca and Carla’s bathroom.   Rm1 Bathroom Bianca Carla 12

This room is quintessential St Kilda - with the perfect combination of modern lux and beach-side apartment glamour, there is no doubt this room would appeal to the target buyer.

From the decadent 450kg stone feature wall to the exquisite slatted timber ceiling – this bathroom had it all.

The timber ceiling in particular was a standout hero, creating a soft feel to the room and making it very well balanced.

Oozing the St Kilda vibe – the room resembles a luxury spa, with simple yet elegant styling and a completely relaxed vibe.

There was also a great deal to love about Norm and Jess’s room.

The colour pallet is very calming, which is the ideal vibe for a bathroom.

I absolutely loved the plant in the corner and ‘stone looking’ bath which worked beautifully with the size of the space.

The addition of the light behind the marble is simply stunning, and very fitting for a penthouse apartment.

Other nuggets for me would have to be the terrazzo tiles in Hans and Courtney’s bathroom, a huge trend at the moment and it’s not hard to see why.

In terms of functionality, the choice of vanity is ideal - without taking away from high-end look of the space.  Week 1 Bathroom Hayden Sara

While their vertical garden was far too big for a small space, the tile choice in Hayden and Sara’s room flowed beautifully up the wall, and their choice in vanity was both functional and elegant.

Kerrie and Spence’s room, while quite simple, had a beautiful light feel.

I loved their choice of bath, as well as the gorgeous black tapware.

What’s ahead …

There is so much to get excited about after the first reveal – bring on guest bedroom week.
