That’s an interesting question. Our banking system is very much more regulated than that in the USA which makes it more sound and less likely to topple over – I guess that’s the trade-off

Why are Banks allowed to increase Fixed interest rates.? Fixed rates were intended to protect the borrower from interest rate increases. Thats typical of the banks to keep moving the goal posts.

Rob in our free market system banks can charge us whatever they want – part of this is determined by the cost of their funds (which are rising), and obviously part is determined by market forces and what other banks are charging banks are charging

What is the solution to the national rental crisis given we are now opening our borders to international workers and migration that will put further pressure on rental stock ? I have informed all my long term tenants that rents will only be adjusted on an inflation, CPI All Groups Adelaide, not market based.

A large part of the rental crisis is the lack of investors buying properties over the last couple of years, in part going back to 2017 when APRA restricted lending to invetsors

Is $80 from $250 to $330 in one jump normal?? In Gladstone QLD rent is going stupid and making a lot of families homeless and I’m quite sure it is not the owners doing this but the greedy realestate. My jump is nothing compared to others I’m hearing about.

That’s not really true Frank while borrowing is important in the asset accumulation phase of your life it’s nowhere near as important in the later stages of your wealth journey
