Latest Australian population growth stats – where are they all going? Michael Matusik

The latest figures from the ABS tell us Australia’s population is growing by 407,000 people per annum.

Population growth is accelerating in NSW & Vic, falling in QLD, SA & WA.  Largely steady elsewhere.

Queensland no longer attracts a lot of interstate migrants.  Most growth these days comes from overseas.

70% of Australia’s population growth takes place in just five locations.

80% in just 12 urban locales.

Obviously a massive drop off in population growth rates after the top 5.

STATS is a new Matusik Missive service.  A quick grab of the just released property-related statistics.
